Spirax Sarco separators remove entrained moisture from steam, compressed air and other gas systems before that moisture can reduce quality or damage downstream equipment. Separated droplets collect on the internal surfaces and are discharged through a dedicated drain connection, helping maintain a drier supply to the rest of the line. Drier steam improves heat transfer, product consistency and equipment protection while helping control valves, meters and process plant work more predictably. Separators are often used ahead of pressure control, process equipment and other sensitive plant items where steam dryness has a direct effect on performance and service life. They deliver the best outcome when the separator drain point is paired with a correctly selected steam trap and line arrangement.
Steam dryness problems usually connect directly with drainage and station protection. Add steam traps when separator performance depends on reliable discharge from the drain point, and compare strainers when solid contamination also threatens downstream hardware.
If the separated steam is feeding pressure-control equipment, continue into pressure reducing valves. For hygienic steam-quality duties, compare clean steam systems.
